Karen and I chose to visit the very north of Scotland this month, and do the official North Coast 500 – driving the whole coast from Inverness up to John O Groats, over to Durness, down to Kyle of Lochalsh and back to Edinburgh.

An amazing road trip and holiday – so much wilderness, deserted beaches, and mountain scapes as far as the eye could see. It was quite special finding so many beautiful spaces off the beaten track. We joined what is a very popular route but it never felt too busy with tourists. Met some delightful locals, stayed in good accommodation, explored and walked and drank in the views.
